Wharton Park is both a challenging and beautiful course, with views that stretch across Worcestershire from a number of holes.
But don’t let the far stretching views take your mind off the game at hand - on many holes, deviating even 15 yards from the fairway means pars are dwindling into bogeys, in amongst trees or in one of the many beautiful lakes.
But as with everything in life, with great risk comes great reward. With some iconic par 3s - be it the 3rd with its grandstand of trees to the rear of the green, the 8th a short inviting uphill shot onto an elevated green, the 10th a downhill plummet with trees surrounding a raised green and finally the 15th tricky 162-yard shot from the back tees over a vast canyon of bushes. While the par 3s offer tempting shots to make greens in regulation, the par 5s offer vast lengthy fairways with only one, the 1st, under 500 yards.
Championship Course
Our respected 18-hole Championship USGA Standard course was designed by architect Howard Swan around a 43-acre Royal Forest. The attractive course offers a variety of interesting features including water to challenge golfers at every level.
Signature 9th Hole
The longest hole on the course at 587 yards from the back tees, hitting this green in two would be some feat of excellence and power. While there isn’t too much danger lurking on this hole, it's a long way!
Signature 16th Hole
Idyllic and picturesque, the 16th offers even the best golfer a challenge.
Course management is essential on this hole. With a precise first shot up onto an elevated fairway, trees to the left, right and 200 yards in front, chances of a par are dwindling even if you go long off the tee. Next comes a roughly 170 yard shot over one of the beautiful lakes on the course, slightly uphill with bunkers to the front left - precision is key on this hole.
